I was recently reading Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. Throughout the story there were many themes. The themes were friendship, sacrifice, and love. There were many people who sacrificed their lives for love and friendship. Many characters had friendships in the story. Romeo and Juliet are in love, but in order to keep their relationship going they have to lie to there parents. Also they would have to disobey many rules. They would do any thing to keep they love going even if its means sacrificing their lives or lying to their own parents.
In the story Romeo and Juliet characters go through many sacrifices. Mercutio sacrificed his own life for Romeo. In the story it states " I am hurt '' which means when Tybalt and him were fighting and he got hurt. Tybalt stabbed Mercutio because they were fighting and he didnt realize he stabbed him. Mercutio told Romeo that it was just a scratch so that he didn't worry much but it wasn't. All this happened to Mercutio because he sacrificed his life fr his best friend Romeo.
Throughout the story there were many friendships between characters. The Nurse and Juliet have a wonderful friendship going on. Juliet can trust the nurse with anything. The Nurse basically raised Juliet as her own daughter. Juliet can tell the Nurse anything and the nurse won't tell anyone. In the story it states that the nurse says '' A man,young lady-lady such a man as all the world-wh hes a man of wax'' i think this quote is saying that the nurse thinks the mans isn't right for Juliet. Also Juliet doesn't want to marry him but the mom is making her . The nurse is basically being a a good friend to Juliet and telling the mom that hes not right for her.
Romeo and Juliet fell in love with each other but in order to keep their love going they have to disobey rules and lie to many people. Romeo is a Montague and Juliet is a Capulet which means their love can never be, because they're total opposites. In the story Romeo states " o than dear saint, lets lips do what hands do . They pray; grant pray thou, lest turn to despair.'' I think Romeo is trying too say that he is gonna pray so that his love for Juliet could work out. Also that praying actually could help you. Juliet wants to marry Romeo but her parents thinks he's bad news for her . Her parents know that he's a Montague and they are capulet so their enemies.
In conclusion , Romeo and Juliet love each other so much and would do anything for each other. They would sacrifice their own lives for one another. They love each other to death. Also during this story their were many friendships going on between characters. Some characters killed themselves for friendship or love. Overall this story had a lot of sacrifices, love, and friendships and I think those are important themes that go through this story.
